Chuck Curcio, owner of Tortilla Factory, was honored as the Council for the Arts of Herndon's business sponsor of the year at its annual meeting on Monday.
Stephanie Dorman was honored as the organization's volunteer of the year after having spent years volunteering at many of the Council for the Art's events and assisting with its online presence. Mary Ann Hall was honored as the Council's project chair of the year for her efforts with the Elden Street Players' Theatre for Young Audiences, which helps make theater available to children in Herndon.
Council for the Arts of Herndon gave out $21,000 in scholarships and $8,000 in grants in 2010. The organization is planning more community events for 2011, including providing arts events for the Herndon Senior Center and hosting the first ever Art Jam, a networking event for area artists. This April will feature the 20th Taste of the Town, one of the Council for the Arts of Herndon's largest fundraisers.
