Curbside Treats And Pumpkin Carving Contest Coming To Herndon

A group of local businesses and a nonprofit have banded together to offer a safe alternative to trick-or-treating starting Thursday night.

HERNDON, VA — Families looking for a safe alternative to trick-or-treating can no further to look than downtown Herndon thanks to the Curbside Treats and Pumpkin Carving Contest in support of Team Watience.

Members of the public are invited to swing by the Station House on Jefferson Street on Wednesday, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., to pick-up goodie bags to enjoy.

While you're picking up goodies, why not make a donation to Team Watience's Be the Match Foundation effort? You'll receive a pumpkin to carve and entrance into the FUNd Fest Pumpkin Carving Contest with two chances to win awesome prizes.

Team Watience is raising money for aplastic anemia patients, caregivers, and families.

Carved pumpkins can be dropped off for judging Thursday through Saturday, until 9 p.m., at Sully’s Pour House, 754 Elden St., #102, in Herndon. Those who drop off their pumpkins will received a coupon for a 10-percent off your next food order.

To be eligible for more prizes, photos of carved pumpkins can be uploaded to Team Watience’s Facebook page for an online judging by Zakaria.

Curbside Treats and Pumpkin Carving Contest is sponsored by Lawrence Doll Homes, LLC; Sully's Pour House; Local Vibes; EOTH; and Team Watience. Pumpkins were donated by Herndon's own Charles Marts.

Fairfax County government and the health department have recommended against traditional trick-or-treating but will not cancel it altogether. The county's guidance is in line with the Centers for Disease Control recommendations for Halloween and other fall activities.
