Doctor Pleads Guilty To Not Paying Federal Payroll Taxes
Doctor who operated walk-in clinics in Herndon and Falls Church admitted in federal court that he had failed to pay IRS payroll taxes.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Dr. Arshad Pervez Cheema, who owned and operated Walk-In Medical Center, PC, a medical practice located in Falls Church and Herndon, pleaded guilty on Friday to failing to pay federal employment taxes, according to a U.S. Justice Department release.
From 2011 through 2018, Cheema, formerly of Great Falls, owned and operated Walk-In Medical Center, PC and was responsible for collecting and paying IRS payroll taxes, according to court documents. These include Social Security, Medicare, and income taxes withheld from his employees' wages and the employer portion.
From 2012 to 2016, Cheema failed to pay over $500,000 in payroll taxes. He instead used the money to fund other business ventures, including operating a restaurant in Washington, D.C. In addition, he did not pay employment taxes for another doctor's office he operated, Falls Church Family Care PC. Cheema failed to pay more than $2 million in corporate and employment taxes.

Cheema is scheduled to appear on June 23 before U.S. District Judge Anthony J. Trenga for sentencing. He faces a sentence of up to five years' imprisonment. He also faces a period of supervised release, restitution, and a fine.
