3 Herndon Charities Are Helping Families Displaced By The Park Avenue Apartment Fire

Three Herndon-area support organizations are helping the 11 families displaced by Thursday's fire at Park Avenue Apartments.

HERNDON, VA — Town of Herndon Police say they are blown way by the community's support for the victims of Thursday night's fire at the Park Avenue Apartments, according to a post on the department's official Twitter account.

HPD had set up boxes in the lobby of police headquarters on Friday, asking the public to drop off donations for the 11 families who were displaced by the fire. The department was working with Leesburg-based nonprofit Mobile Hope.

The department had received so many donations by Sunday that it asked the public to only drop off gift cards. But, on Monday morning, HPD stopped accepting any donations and asked the public to contact the following organizations directly if they are interested in providing assistance to the victims of the fire:
