Herndon to Celebrate Classic Cars, Grandparents This Sunday

The AARP Dulles annual classic car show will also include a Grandparents' Day celebration.

The 11th annual AARP Dulles Classic Car Show will take over downtown Herndon this weekend, bringing with it a Grandparents Day Celebration. 

The classic car show kicks off with the singing of the National Anthem by the Chorus of the Old Dominion at 10:30 a.m. The event goes on until 3 p.m. 

A DJ will spin retro tunes throughout the day. GottaSwing will perform swing dance demonstrations in their '50s best and roving doo-wop singers will croon to the crowd. Raffle prizes and a 50/50 drawing will be awarded as well.

The Grandparents' Day Celebration will take place on the blacktop area outside ArtSpace Herndon off of Vine Street. Activities will include face painting, hula hooping, a performance by Sun Dance, remote control cars, hopscotch, jacks and marbles, jump rope and more. Participants will be able to tour the caboose in downtown Herndon.

There will also be food and vendors on hand, such as Little Hands Music, Stories Inherited, Mary Kay, and many others. Popcorn, cookies and other refreshments will be available.

Proceeds from the event benefit nursing students specializing in gerontology at George Mason University. The event is sponsored by Wiygul Automotive.
