Only 5 At-Large State Bands were chosen nationally for the 2013 Memorial Parade. The Pride of Herndon will not only proudly represent the Commonwealth of Virginia during official ceremonies, but also the veterans and survivors from all across the country.
The Pride of Herndon will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii in December to participate in 2013 Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade. This will mark the 72nd Anniversary of the “day that will live in infamy” – the attack on Pearl Harbor. Perhaps unlike any other moment in our modern history, Americans felt the call of duty to help preserve the freedoms we enjoy in this great country. The sacrifices that were made by so many should be cherished, honored and never forgotten. This year’s celebration is also significant as several remaining WWII Pearl Harbor attack survivors will be the Grand Marshals of the parade and our students will perform a special ceremony for them at the USS Arizona Memorial.
