Open Hoop Jam at Herndon Community Center

We're trying out an open hoop jam at Herndon Community Center this Sunday from 2-3:30 p.m. What's hooping? It's a combination of dance and fitness that burns 300-600 calories an hour. Bonus—it's fun!

This is a great time for hoopers to get together and practice without fear of leaving hoop marks on their own walls or breaking lamps. Certified Hoopnotica instructor, Leslie Perales, will be on hand with hoops for people to borrow if they don't have their own.

Those interested in hoopdance classes but not sure if they want to commit can take this chance to give it a shot. Minimal instruction will be given, as this is a time for practice, play and sharing with each other, but Leslie will be happy to get anyone who's new started.

Just pay the daily rate for the HCC—$6 for Herndon residents and $7 for non-residents. If you plan to come and borrow a hoop, let Leslie know so she can have enough hoops on hand. Her email is leslie@tillywhirls.com.

* Children are welcome, but please beware that the hoops we use are adult hoops and are larger and heavier than children's hoops (about 2 pounds each and 40 inches in diameter) and sometimes get flung across the room when practicing.
