12noon – 5pm  Fun Outdoor Activities and Art on the Lawn

5pm – 6pm    Reception and Awards Ceremony

Children’s Hands-on-Art:  Children will have fun participating in the hands-on-art activities just for fun.  Color or create original art for free, supplies will be provided.

Painting Competition:  Enter Paint Herndon 2012 Painting Competition to compete for cash prizes:

Youth Division for artists ages 8 – 11

Teen Division for artists ages 12 – 17

Adult Division open to all adults and teens ages 16 and older

The competition is designed in the spirit of a “day painting” competition, which challenges artists to create works of art in a short period of time.  And this year, in honor of our 5th annual competition, the adult competition will be a “plein air” competition.  Teens and youth are not restricted to just “plein air” painting.

All painters must register and pay the entry fee to compete for cash prizes.  Registration can be done online, by mail, or in person.   Go to Artspaceherndon.com for more information and registration forms.

Art on the Lawn:  New this year!  Stroll around the lawn outside ArtSpace to visit booths where participating artists that will be displaying and selling their artwork and where local arts organizations and arts businesses will offer displays and information about classes and other arts activities and events offered in the area.  Interested in participating as an artists, arts organization or business? Live Entertainment:  Enjoy performances from local artists of all ages, from singing to dancing to instrumental performances, in an open mic format.  Interested in participating as a performing? Go to Artspaceherndon.com for more information and registration forms.

Art Exhibit:  Don’t miss the “At Home in Herndon Town Calendar Photography Exhibit” inside in the Post Gallery.  Be sure and vote for your favorite photograph to be the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

At 5:00pm, the festivities move indoors.  Ice cream and cake will be served in celebration of the anniversary of the opening of ArtSpace Herndon.  And, when the judges complete their work, the winners of the Painting Competition will be announced!  A fitting ending to a great day celebrating the arts in Herndon.
