Roberta Thole and Philippe Mougne Artists' Reception and Gallery Talk

Please join us for a reception and gallery talk with artist Roberta Thole and sculptor Philippe Mougne. The event is free and open to the public.
Roberta Thole's artwork is filled with Classical Symbolism. The images of the columns, arches and vases recall antiquities and the echoes of art history. These classical symbols, painted on canvas, copper or fresco are balanced against passages which are abstract and painted with a contemporary eye. Her work is frequently layered and complex. Thole's abstract painting often allude to an environment, piece of music or state of mind. All of her work expresses her interest in the process of painting. Roberta maintains a studio at Reston Art Gallery and Studios in Reston, VA.
Philippe Mougne's sculpture is an elegant and energetic combination. As stated on his website, Mougne's sculpture is "mainly based on a search for combinations of lines, planes and shapes, carefully arranged to reflect elegance, energy, or a sense of surprise. Nature, modernism and the human condition are my favorite themes. Pieces take on physical shapes between abstraction and figuration, reflecting moods, expressions."
