Stage Combat Workshop for Young Actors

What is stage combat? 

Stage combat is the art of theatrical violence as performed by actors upon a stage. The action can either be comedic or dramatic and must move the storyline forward.

How is stage combat different from stunt work? 

Stage combat is usually performed in front of a live audience. Since stage actors perform their own fights (for all shows), it is important that the action is safe while still providing a convincing performance. For television and film, actors have the advantage of stunt men and women for the action scenes. 

What will we be doing?

Dodgeball Theatre will offer this 1.5 hour workshop in two age groups. Working under the instruction of award winning actors/combatants and fight choreographers, young actors will learn safe and fun techniques to cause a little mayhem onstage! Moves may include shoves, punches, slaps, hair grabs and more. Be ready to rumble - dress in comfortable clothes to move around in.
