Explorations in Color

Explorations in Color is an exhibit featuring abstract paintings executed in clear vibrant color by artist Kristin Herzog.

The paintings are all about color and its power to convey emotion. With color Ms. Herzog explores her reactions to the physical and emotional landscapes of daily life. She also enjoys working with layers, what shows on the surface versus what might be found and explored underneath. Often her abstract paintings resemble colorful maps. She’s interested in the way a space can influence emotions, thought patterns and the activities that ultimately take place there. And then these activities in turn become a part of the space itself.

Some of her paintings are more atmospheric. She loves using color to explore energy patterns, which can vary from instant to instant and permanently change our experience of a moment in time. Also, because of these changes we can never exactly repeat an experience. Yet in a painting she finds the power to capture a moment, freeze an emotion and preserve it forever.

Ms. Herzog is a process painter and enjoys the adventure of exploring the canvas or paper surface. Using intuition and chance as her guiding force she finds great joy in unexpected results. Allowing a painting to move in its own direction, her goal is to make decisions that enable each piece to achieve a life of its own.

Event Details: On Display December 7, 2016 – January 8, 2017. The Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016, 7-9 pm. All art will be available for purchase.
