On Saturday at 8 a.m., the Fairfax County Crime Solvers will host their third annual 5K Race Against Crime at the Fairfax County Government Center. This race is open to everyone and supports their non-profit program, which works to aid law enforcement by providing a means for the public to report criminal information anonymously, protected under state law.

As part of the run, police officers, firefighters and sheriff’s deputies will compete against each other in the Public Safety Challenge. The winning team gets bragging rights and awards, as do the top runners in the race.

This is a family event, so come one, come all! Children will enjoy exploring the emergency vehicles and can visit the child fingerprinting station. McGruff the Crime Dog will be there, too! There will be a free kid run immediately following the 5k. Multiple food vendors will be on hand as well.

Fairfax County Crime Solvers is proud to have cable TV channel Investigation Discovery as their title sponsor. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Lt. Joe Kenda from the Investigation Discovery television show, “Homicide Hunter.” He will emcee the race and be available for autographs and photos with the runners.

Crime Solvers is in need of volunteers as well! If you are not able to run but would still like to be a part of this fun event, please visit their race website and register as a volunteer today. Otherwise, grab your friends and register to run alongside your first responders!

See you on Saturday morning!
