Fairfax County Needs Your Help at the World Police and Fire Games
Media report: County is looking for more than 4,000 volunteers with a wide variety of skills.

The World Police and Fire Games are coming to Northern Virginia this summer, and Fairfax County is looking for volunteers to help out.

The county needs more than 4,000 volunteers for the games, which run from June 26 to July 5, according to radio station WTOP. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and go through a basic background check.
People with a wide range of skills are needed, from medical professionals like doctors and EMTs to translators, referees and scorekeepers.

The volunteers also will work in areas like “logistics ... venue operations, media relations. Essentially, this is a giant party,” Diana Rothe-Smith, director of volunteer services for the World Police and Fire Games, told WTOP. “And Fairfax is hosting it for 12,000 international first-responders, their friends, their family and spectators.”
