After the Fairfax County Police Department was found to have withheld information in the case of John Geer, an unarmed Springfield man shot and killed by an officer in a 2013 standoff, the department is seeking to be more transparent to the residents it serves.
With this in mind, it released a decade’s worth of data on officer-involved shootings on Tuesday evening, detailing all 37 across its eight police districts. The Herndon area falls within the Reston and Fair Oaks districts.
