FL Man Pleads Guilty To Assaulting Crew Member On Flight To Dulles

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A 24-year-old Miami, Florida man pleaded guilty Tuesday to assaulting a flight attendant and interfering with an a flight crew onboard a United Airlines flight last October, according a release from the U.S. District Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

About one hour into an Oct. 4, 2022 flight from Miami to Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia, Cherruy Loghan Sevilla began running up and down the aisle, clapping loudly and shouting obscenities.

After refusing to remain seated, Sevilla laid down in the aisle, which prevented a flight attendant from returning to her jump seat to prepare for landing, according to court documents. Instead, Sevilla lunged at the flight attendant and grabbed and twisted her right breast.

Another flight attendant, a passenger, and an onboard law enforcement officer were able to pull Sevilla off of the victim and restrain him, according to court documents. During that process, Sevilla twisted the second flight attendant's arm.

Sevilla is due back in court on April 21, where he will face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, according to the release.
