Girl, 12, Recovering After Crash Caused By Accused Carjacker
It's been almost a month, but young Amran is still recovering from the brutal accident.

HERNDON, VA — A 12-year-old Herndon girl is still recovering from an accident caused by a suspected carjacker on Dec. 27. She was ejected from the minivan.
Alongside the immense emotional pain Amran Djama's family is going through, their financial burden is growing. Her father, Moustapha, updated their family's GoFundMe account page which the family set up in hopes of receiving some much-needed help from building hospital bills.
The Djama family needs "support in this difficult time to recover. Please support generously for Djama family and pray for Amran for her recovery," according to the GoFundMe page, set up by Moustapha.

Amran was recently transferred to a rehabilitation facility. Last Tuesday, she was able to write her name on a whiteboard, according to the GoFundMe page.
Amran was sent into a coma by the brain damage caused by the accident. She finally opened her eyes on Jan. 10, WTOP reported Moustapha as saying, but still needs machine assistance in order to breathe.

The carjacking suspect, Brandon Vinson, 28, of Adelphi, Md., was trying to get away from police when he crashed into the minivan. Amran's mother was driving the minivan, which held six kids including Amran, who is the only one still in the hospital as a result of the crash.
Besides carjacking, Vinson is being charged with leading police on the nearly fatal chase.
Vinson's preliminary hearing is set for March 13, WTOP reported.
