In our area we are blessed to have so many interesting happenings each weekend. As fall approaches, there are several happening.
On Sunday I visited the 11th Alexandria Art Festival; I have attended in the past few years and it is a very well planned and executed event. Flocks of patrons swarmed the streets of Old Town for this annual treat; restaurants and food vendors were busily trying to attend to all. The festival offered spectacular paintings, life-size sculptures, jewelry, photography, ceramics and much much more. According to the organizers over $15 million in art was on display with the opportunity to meet the artists and hear first-hand about the inspirations and techniques used in the work. I acquired a beautiful ceramic vase for my living room and a pair of earrings. Very beautiful and intricate metal work to create roses, if you like antique inspired jewelry you will love Helma Mezey’s work, www.retrose.com
