Here's How to Recycle Your Christmas Tree in Herndon

It's after New Year's, so it's time to ditch your Christmas tree, and here's a way to do it responsibly.

HERNDON, VA — The holidays are over, and the time has come to toss that Christmas tree before it becomes a fire hazard -- or at least before it becomes a painful reminder that it's back to the daily grind.

But before tossing it in the dumpster, consider a more environmentally friendly way of disposing of your (real) Christmas tree. Here's what you can do in Herndon.

The Town of Herndon will collect Christmas trees on your trash day between Jan. 3 and Jan. 6, so you'd better hurry and get it out there soon. Make sure you strip the trees of any decorations, stands, bags or other foreign objects.
