Herndon Anglers Brave Chilly Weather During Kids' Trout Fishing Derby

Children and their families braved chilly temperatures Saturday morning to take part in the annual Kids' Trout Fishing Derby in Herndon.

HERNDON, VA — While it wasn't quite "ice fishing" cold, it was certainly chilly on Saturday morning. This did not deter local children and their families from traveling to Runnymede Park in Herndon on Saturday morning for the annual Kids' Trout Fishing Derby.

The Town of Herndon Parks & Recreation Department hosted the annual event, with Trout Unlimited cleaning and storing the children's catch.

Volunteers taught the young anglers how to bait, cast, hook and cook their freshly caught fish, according to a parks & recreation release.
