HERNDON, VA — Fairfax County Fire & Rescue units responded Monday afternoon for the report of an apartment fire in the 2400 block of Masons Ferry Drive in the Frying Pan area, according to a post on the department's official Twitter account.

The fire was out as of 2:15 p.m. and crews were checking to see if the blaze had spread to other areas of the building. FCFRD reported the fire was caused by food on a stove.
