Herndon Man Who Barricaded Self In Home Surrenders, Police Say
The standoff on Ladybank Lane lasted for several hours. Police said they also heard a gunshot ring out at one point.
HERNDON, VA — The suspect who threatened to kill his family and barricaded himself inside a home in Herndon has finally surrendered after an hourslong standoff, police said. The man was taken into custody and no one was hurt, Fairfax County police said on Twitter.
Police responded to the 13200 block of Ladybank Lane around 4 a.m. Sunday for a report that man threatened to kill his family, police told reporters. The family members later safely evacuated the home but the suspect threatened to fire at responding officers.
That's when negotiations started, police said. Officers heard a gunshot ring out around 6 a.m., though it didn't appear to be fired at anyone.

Family members told police the man had access to weapons inside the home.
People were told to keep far away from the area.
