ArtsWeek Herndon transforms Historic Town Center, October 11-18

Herndon, Virginia, October 11-17, 2014

Downtown historic Herndon will play host to a week of high-quality nationally known local artists for a series of free and low-cost events known as ArtsWeek Herndon. Each year in early October, the Council for the Arts of Herndon celebrates Herndon’s art community with a one week-long exposition of the Arts, including the visual and performing arts.

Robbie Schaefer, local noted children’s entertainer who is part of the noted band “Eddie from Ohio” and Sirius XMKids Radio, headlines our Kids Day event on Columbus Day. Held at ArtSpace Herndon this year, Kids Day is held on Columbus Day to provide out-of-school children with an entertaining artistic and educational activity. Kids Day 2014 includes free dance class for 5-6 year olds (10 am) and 7-9 year olds (11 am), African Drumming sessions at 12 noon and Robbie Schaefer’s highly interactive concert at 3:30 pm. On October 15, the film “An Article of Hope,” executive produced by Tom Hanks, will be shown at ArtSpace Herndon at 7 pm. Local filmmaker Dan Cohen, director and producer of the film will answer questions afterwards. The Washington West Film Festival is held in venues west of the DC metro area, including Reston and Merrifield. The Herndon arts community is excited to be a part of this new presence in Herndon.
