Updated: Herndon Hotel Fire Brought Under Control By Firefighters
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue units responded Thursday afternoon to the Herndon area for the report of a hotel fire.

HERNDON, VA — Fairfax County Fire and Rescue extinguished a fire Thursday afternoon at a Herndon-area hotel, according to a post on the department's official Twitter account.
Units responded around 2:55 p.m. to the Hyatt House in Herndon in the 400 block of Herndon Parkway. About 50 occupants were present at the time of the fire. Arriving units found that the fire had been extinguished by a a fire sprinkler. No injuries were reported.

Fire inspectors determined an electrical event involving a Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner & Heat Pump had caused the fire, which resulted in an estimated $7,000 in damages.

Units are on scene of a fire in a commercial building in the 400 block of Herndon Parkway in the Herndon area. Units arrived to find smoke showing from the roof of the building. The building was evacuated. The fire was quickly brought under control. pic.twitter.com/Ppf5f45upr
