Herndon College Students Earn Accolades At Their Schools
Patch highlights the honors received by Herndon students from their college or university.

HERNDON, VA — To shine a light on the academic achievements of college students from the Herndon area, Patch shares information provided by the students' families and Merit News.
Shrenik Tripathi of Herndon has begun higher education studies at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania. A graduate of Saint James School, Tripathi is studying computer science at Albright and pursuing a bachelor of science degree as a member of the class of 2026.
Matthew Krill of Herndon was named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at Loyola University in Baltimore, Maryland. This is his second semester in a row making the dean's list.

The following student received degrees from the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky in August:
- Raga Malika Bobba of Herndon completed their master of science in project management
- Shalini Reddy Mamidi of Herndon completed their master of business administration.
James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia welcomed the following new and transfer students in September:

- Sara Finley of Herndon, who has selected individualized study as their major.
- Marcus Miles of Herndon, who has selected kinesiology as their major.
- Owen McManus of Herndon, who has selected communication studies as their major.
- Katelyn Marshall of Herndon, who has selected engineering as their major.
- Caleb Miller of Herndon, who has selected engineering as their major.
The following students were named to the summer 2022 president's list at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, New Hampshire:

- Matthew Schipani of Herndon
- Mark Seamon-Luciani of Herndon
- Seth McAllister of Herndon
- Dylan Hardin of Herndon
- Leland Jenkins of Herndon
- Ryan Niebla of Herndon
- Bryce Peterson of Herndon
Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the president's list.
Molly O'Brien of Herndon was named to the Big South Conference's 2021-22 Presidential Honor Roll. O'Brien plays Women's Lacrosse for Radford University and ended the 2021-22 academic year with a 3.14 GPA.
McDaniel College students participated in Student-Faculty Collaborative Summer Research Program at McDaniel College, including:
- Alessandra Kol of Herndon collaborated on Design, Synthesis and Evaluation of Inhibitors of the SARS-CoV2 macrodomain as potential antivirals with Associate Professor of Chemistry Dana Ferraris.
- Pauline Tillotson of Herndon collaborated on Sign Language Recognition and Translation using Machine Learning with Associate Professor of Computer Science Paul Lin.
- Steven Herd of Herndon collaborated on Integrating Object Recognition in Video Classification to Improve Accuracy with Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science Ting Zhang.
Students interested in undergraduate research are annually selected to participate in this summer research program, which is supported by donors.
