Herndon College Students Honored For Academic Achievements

HERNDON, VA — To shine a light on the academic achievements of college students from the Herndon area, Patch shares information provided by the students' families and Merit News.

Matthew Malito, a class of 2018 graduate of Herndon High school, graduated from Virginia Tech’s Pamplin School of Business Class of 2022 with a degree in Business Information Technology.

Aleeza Hulnick, an Ohio University Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education student from Herndon was named to the spring 2022 dean's list at the Athens, Ohio school. Ohio students must maintain a 3.5 grade point average for the semester with a schedule of classes totaling at least 15 hours, 12 of which were taken for letter grades, to achieve this distinction.

Noah Brandon Walker and Samuel Richard Clyne, who are both from Herndon, were named to the spring 2022 dean's list at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 graded credit hours during any one term.

Josh Piazza of Herndon and Ian Weathington of Oak Hill were named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. To be named to the dean's list, an undergraduate student must carry 12 or more credit hours and achieve grade point average of 3.5 or higher on the 4.0 scale for the semester.

Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, welcomed 1,971 new initiates from 78 universities during April 2022. Among the new initiates were:

• Sienna Sullivan of Herndon - Bridgewater College
• Claire Jonas of Herndon - University of Lynchburg

To be initiated into Omicron Delta Kappa, sophomore, junior and senior students must be in the top 35 percent of their class and demonstrate leadership experience in at least one of the society's five pillars, and embrace ODK's ideals.

The following students were named to the spring 2022 president's list at Shenandoah University Winchester, Virginia:

• Elise Velasquez of Herndon
• Kaylan Schoenefeldt of Herndon

To be named to the president's list at SU, a student must complete at least 12 credit hours for the semester and earn at least a 3.90 GPA.

The following students were named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at the University of Delaware at Newark, Delaware:

• Arden Titus of Herndon
• Jasper Peralta of Herndon

To be named to the dean's list, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.5 or above for the semester.

Eileen Eidelberg of Herndon graduated with a BSC Media Arts and Studies- Integrated Media from Ohio University's Scripps College of Communication in spring 2022.

Brianna Edwards, an Intelligence & National Security Studies major from Herndon, was among the nearly 1,000 students who made the president's list at for the spring 2022 semester at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. To gain a spot on the president's list, a student must have achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the semester.

To be named to the honor's list, student-athlete must have a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Cassie White of Herndon, a graduate of Westfield High School majoring in acting, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2022 semester at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. To be named to the dean's list, BWU students must earn a grade point average of 3.6 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more graded hours during the semester.

Cressy Lee of Oak Hill received the BA in Business during Hollins University's 180th commencement ceremony on May 22 in Roanoke, Virginia.

The following students were named to the dean's list during the spring 2022 semester at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia:

To attain this distinction, students must earn at least a 3.5 average on a 4.0 grading scale.
