Herndon Community Center Expands Hours Of Operation

HERNDON, VA — Come next Tuesday, Herndon residents will soon have more opportunities to work out and have fun at the Herndon Community Center. The center will be open evenings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays starting next week.

The community center will be open following these temporary hours beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8:

  • Mondays: 7 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Tuesdays–Thursdays: 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Fridays: 7 a.m.-4 p.m.

The community center will continue to be closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Patrons will be able to use the community center pool for lap swimming and water walking. Use of the fitness area is limited to 10 patrons at a time for 60-minute time slots. Reservations are required.

During this phase of the reopening, the locker rooms, spa, sauna, racquetball Cours, and drop-in fitness classes will remain closed. Personal training services are being offered, but reservations are required. The community center is offering a limited number of fall classes starting in mid-September. Staff members will be exercising precautions and following CDC and industry guidelines to ensure the health and safety of all students. Outdoor tennis lessons and new family tennis lessons are being offered at Bready Park, with small group fitness classes taking place indoors and outdoors at the park as well. The Community Center along with many other town facilities closed their doors in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. The center reopened Aug. 20, offering modified services. All of Herndon's park amenities have already reopened, although restrooms remain closed.
