Herndon Firefighters Rescue Hummingbird (ICYMI)

A hummingbird that looked to be dying was taken in by some local firefighters, who nursed it back to health.

HERNDON, VA -- A tiny hummingbird is doing much better now thanks to the actions of some firefighters in Herndon.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue tweeted Monday that crews at Fire Station 31 in Fox Mill -- right on the Herndon/Reston boundary line -- discovered a hummingbird outside the station that looked "weak and lethargic."

So they started feeding the bird sugar water using a syringe. After a little while, the little guy was well enough to head out on its own.

No word on whether the hummingbird sent the firefighters a thank-you note.
