Herndon Homeowner Nabs Burglar in Her Garage: Police

A burglar caught in Herndon faces grand larceny and other charges, say Fairfax County police.

HERNDON, VA — A 19-year-old Herndon man is facing burglary and other charges after a homeowner caught him lurking in her garage and detained him, according to the Fairfax County police.

Richard Reyes, 19, was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of grand larceny, possession of marijuana, and being drunk in public, the police said.

The police were called to the scene at about 5:10 p.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of Winterwood Place, after the homeowner found Reyes and another male intruder in her garage, the police said.

The pair tried to flee, but the victim detained Reyes, the police said. No one was injured, and the police identified the other intruder and are looking for him.

The police said Reyes and the other individual had also burglarized another home.
