Herndon To Host 4th of July Celebration

Event will feature arts and crafts, family games and fireworks.

The Town of Herndon will host a 4th of July celebration from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 4, around the Herndon Community Center and Bready Park, 814 Ferndale Ave. Admission is free.

The event will feature arts and crafts activities, bingo and family games. Join your friends and family at 7 p.m. to enjoy a classic July 4th celebration. At 7:15 p.m., we welcome the band E3, a cover band featuring members of the band Everything.

A variety of food will be on sale ranging from hot dogs and hamburgers to funnel cakes and ice cream. Starting at 9:30 p.m., there will be a fireworks display choreographed to music.

Please note that traffic will be rerouted. Motorists should expect detours and alteration of traffic routes at the conclusion of the fireworks display at Bready Park for up to 60 minutes, or until most of the traffic clears. Those parked at the Herndon Community Center may not exit until the Fire Marshal gives the all clear, which can be as much as 45 minutes following the fireworks show.

Traffic adjustments will be as follows:

  • Herndon Parkway will be reduced to one lane approaching Ferndale Avenue;
  • No turns from Herndon Parkway onto Ferndale Avenue will be permitted;
  • Elden Street southbound into town at Monroe Street will be closed during this period and all traffic must turn right on Monroe Street;
  • Elden Street traffic northbound at Alabama Drive will be re-routed;
  • Herndon Middle School traffic exiting from 5th Street must turn left on Locust Street and may only then turn left onto Elden Street;
  • St. Joseph’s Church parking lot will exit onto Peachtree Street and must turn left onto Elden Street;
  • Bready Park softball and Herndon Centennial Golf Course parking lots will exit onto Ferndale Avenue towards Herndon Parkway only;
  • Ferndale Avenue traffic will only be able to turn right onto Herndon Parkway.

Event Tips:

  • Leave pets and personal fireworks at home.
  • Parking is available at Herndon Middle School and Herndon Community Center. Please note that cars parked in the Herndon Community Center and Bready Park parking lots will not be released until the Fire Marshal declares the area safe.
  • Bring a blanket or lawn chair.
  • Remember all coolers and bags will be searched. No alcohol or glass containers or personal fireworks allowed.
  • For your safety, the Fire Marshal prohibits anyone on the Herndon Centennial Golf Course from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 4.

The Herndon Community Center is open for all users on July 4th from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
