Herndon Invites Neighborhoods to 'Dress Up for the Holidays'
Get out your lights and holiday wreaths and go crazy -- you might win a prize from the Town of Herndon.
HERNDON, VA — The Town of Herndon has announced a contest inviting residents to string lights and hang wreaths for the annual "Dress Up Herndon for the Holidays" neighborhood decoration contest.
All town residents are eligible to participate in the contest, and nominations should be send to information@herndon-va.gov by Friday, Dec. 9.
The judging panel will be made up of volunteer citizen members of the Cultivating Community Initiative, which is the sponsor of the event. The judges will circulate through the town on Monday evening, Dec. 12, to determine who is the winner of the contest, according to a statement from the Town of Herndon.

"Judges will be looking for classical design, traditional themes, whimsical or creative decorations and more," the statement reads. "Decorations on all nominated homes must be easily visible from the street."
Contest winners will get a festive sign and be recognized by Mayor Lisa C. Merkel and the Town Council.
