Herndon Man Accidentally Shoots Gun While Cleaning It: Police

No one was injured and the bullet did not penetrate the brick wall of his home, police say.

HERNDON, VA -- Police are considering charges after they say a man accidentally fired his gun while cleaning it.

Police were called to the 13000 block of Mansarde Avenue at around 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

"Officers responded for a call where a man was cleaning his handgun and accidently discharged a round into the brick wall of his home," the report states. "No one was injured and the round did not penetrate the wall."

Police are following up with the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney to determine if there should be any charges.
