Herndon Man Accused Of Abducting Wife, Child Arrested In NYC

Police arrested Osman Osman in Manhattan Beach on Tuesday after a manhunt that lasted months.

HERNDON, VA -- Herndon resident Osman Osman is finally behind bars, nearly eight months after police began looking for him after they say he abducted and assaulted his wife and child in Chantilly.

Osman, 37, was arrested in Manhattan Beach, N.Y. on Tuesday, and is awaiting extradition to Fairfax County, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

Police issued a statement on March 30 that Osman was wanted for two counts of abduction and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

At the time, detectives believed that Osman left Virginia after "assaulting and temporarily abducting his wife and child" on March 24 in Chantilly, the statement reads. They also believed he traveled to New York City but did not know where he was.

Police credited the New York City Police Department and the United States Marshal's Task Force with helping them locate Osman.
