Herndon Man Catches Guy Rifling Through His Car: Police

Police later found that several other unlocked vehicles in the area were also burglarized.

HERNDON, VA – A Herndon man walked out of his home to find a strange man standing next to his car with the door open and "items in his hands," according to a report from the Herndon Police Department.

The suspect immediately fled, and police were called to the 400 block of Madison Forest Drive on Sept. 9 in an attempt to locate him with a helicopter and K9 unit, but were unsuccessful.

"Further investigation found that several other vehicles in the area were also entered, most were unlocked," the report states. "A total of over $800 in property was stolen, some of which was recovered when the suspect fled."

Police described the suspect as "possibly being a Hispanic male in his mid-20’s wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap."
