Herndon Man Claims $5M Prize in Virginia Lottery: Media Report

Another winning $1 million ticket in June 12 drawing is still unclaimed.

A Herndon man has won $5 million in the Virginia Lottery, buying the winning ticket at a convenience store in Warrenton, according to a media report.

The Washington Post reported Friday on its website that Andy Ciaccio bought the winning Mega Millions ticket in the June 12 drawing. On Friday afternoon, he met with Virginia Lottery officials at the Sheetz store where he bought the ticket, and posed for a photo with an oversized check for $5 million.

Ciaccio works as a finance officer as a Chevy dealer in Warrenton, the seat of Fauquier County. The winning numbers were 1-40-42-56-62; the Mega Ball number was 2.

No one has come forward with the other winning ticket sold in Virginia for the June 12 Mega Millions drawing, the Post reported. That winning ticket - for $1 million - was sold at a grocery store in Salem, near Roanoke in southwestern Virginia.
