Herndon Man Faces Multiple Felony Charges In Franklin Farms Fire
Fairfax County Police arrested a Herndon man in connection with an early morning fire last Friday in the Franklin Farms area.

HERNDON, VA — Fairfax County Police arrested Rogerio Ribeiro, 52, of Herndon, in connection with an early morning fire at a single-family home Friday in Franklin Farms, according to a police report.
Around 4 a.m., officers from the Fair Oaks Station responded to the report of a disturbance at a home in the 13500 block of Coates Lane. Arriving on the scene, they found the home engulfed in flames and Ribeiro attempting to leave in a car. After Ribeiro pointed a handgun at the officers, they struggled with him and were able to disarm and take him into custody. A person injured in the fire was taken to a nearby hospital and later released. An injured dog remains in the care of a veterinarian.
Following an investigation, Fairfax County Fire Marshal's Office investigators charged Ribeiro on Friday with arson and setting fire to damage another’s property. Ribeiro was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.

After investigating the scene, detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau consulted with Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney. They charged Ribeiro with aggravated malicious wounding, cruelty to animals and two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer.
