Herndon Man Killed After Truck Crashes Into Townhouse: Police

Police arrested the driver on DUI and involuntary manslaughter charges following the crash Friday night in Sterling.

STERLING, VA -- A Herndon man has died and one man is under arrest after a pickup truck smashed into a parked vehicle and then struck a townhouse in Sterling Friday night.

Police arrested 39-year-old Julio A. Rivera of Herndon on charges of involuntary manslaughter, DUI, and driving on a suspended license. He was the driver of the vehicle, and the deceased was the passenger, according to a report from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

First responders rushed the passenger to Reston Hospital, where he passed away. No one was injured inside the townhouse.

The crash happened at around 10:45 p.m. on Dec. 1. Police are still working to confirm the identity of the passenger.
