Herndon Man Killed in Rear-End Collision: Police
Leesburg police are still investigating the Friday crash. The other driver is in stable condition at Reston Hospital Center.
A Herndon man has died after he was violently rear-ended on Route 7 near Leesburg on Friday.
Leesburg police were dispatched to the eastbound lanes of Harry Byrd Highway just past Children's Center Road at around 12:30 p.m. on April 7 to a report of a crash, according to a police statement.
Police determined that a red BMW had rear-ended a white Ford Focus in the eastbound lanes, causing the Ford Focus to leave the roadway and overturn, the statement reads.

"Both drivers were transported to Reston Hospital Center," the statement adds. "The driver of the Ford Focus was identified as Rush Hone Elmore, 69, of Herndon Virginia, who sustained life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital. The driver of the BMW is currently in stable condition."
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
