Herndon Man Pleads Guilty To Shooting At Cop
The plea was related to a Jan. 22 incident in Great Falls when an officer was fired upon after attempting a traffic stop.

A Herndon man has pleaded guilty to several charges related to an incident last January when an officer was fired upon after attempting to make a traffic stop.
Brian Neftali Landaverde, 21, has pleaded guilty to attempted capital murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and speed to elude, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.
"Landaverde shot at the officer shortly after they were attempting a traffic stop in the Great Falls area [on Jan. 22]," the report states. "The officer was not injured during the shooting and Landaverde sped away from the scene. The next day Landaverde was arrested by the Town of Herndon Police Department on unrelated charges. Landaverde is due to be sentenced on March 9th, 2018."

Landaverde, who resided at 2171 Astoria Circle in Herndon, allegedly fired several bullets that struck the police cruiser.
"Regardless of how safe our county is, this is a stark reminder of the dangers of policing," Police Chief Edwin Roessler said in the statement. "I’m glad our officer wasn’t injured and is back on the street protecting our citizens."
