Herndon Man Sexually Abuses 12-Year-Old Girl at After-School Daycare: Police

Oscar Perez Rangel, 40, allegedly lived in a home that was being used as an after-school daycare.

RESTON, VA — A Herndon man is being held without bond after being accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl late last year.

Police arrested 40-year-old Oscar Perez Rangel on three counts of felony animate object sexual penetration and two counts of felony aggravated sexual battery, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

Police say the 12-year-old girl attended an in-home daycare after school in the 13100 block of Kidwell Field Road in Herndon. Rangel was not the daycare operator but lives in the home, and he assaulted the girl multiple times, the report states.

Police were made aware of the situation on March 28 when the victim reported the offense to school staff. Police believe Rangel sexually abused the girl between October and December 2016.

Fairfax County Police detectives obtained criminal warrants for Rangel on April 7. He is being held at the Adult Detention Center.

"Detectives, Victim Services and Child Protective Services are working with the victim and her family to provide assistance as needed," the report states. "There is no indication that there are any other victims connected to Perez Rangel, however, any information that may be useful in this case can be directed to Det. Elizabeth Melendez at 703-246-7885."
