Herndon Packed with Holiday Events This Weekend

From visits to Santa to holiday arts and crafts, there's a lot to do this weekend in Herndon.

HERNDON, VA — It will be a very merry holiday season in Herndon with a number of events scheduled this weekend to get you in the spirit to celebrate.

The next upcoming event in the Town of Herndon is Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka by Nextstop Theatre Company, which kicks off on Friday, Dec. 2 and runs through Dec. 18. Local students will join members of NextStop's professional company for an adaptation of the classic tale, featuring songs from the 1971 film. Tickets are $25, and you can find out more here.

You can also check out the Holiday Homes Tour of Herndon, which takes place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. Tickets are $20 to see Herndon homes that have been decorated for the holidays. You can find out more here.

Also on Dec. 3, there will be a Winter Open House and Santa's Workshop at the Herndon Fortnightly Library. The event, which runs from 1 to 4 p.m., includes live music, visits with Santa and children's crafts.

A third event on Dec. 3 will take place at the Herndon Community Center and will feature a canoe ride with Santa around an indoor heated pool. Put on your bathing suit and tell Santa what you'd like for Christmas, and then head on over to the corner of Lynn and Elden Streets for a Holiday Tree Lighting and Sing-Along starting at 5 p.m.

Finally, on Sunday there will be a Herndon Holiday Arts and Craft Show from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Herndon Community Center, with more than 70 arts and craft vendors. Click here for more information.
