Police said Friday they arrested 27-year-old Kenan M. Ozcan of Arlington in connection with the incidents. He is being held with no bond at the Fairfax County jail, facing charges of armed robbery and use of a firearm in connection with a felony from both the Herndon and Fairfax County Police Departments.

On Wednesday, a 22-year-old woman reported she was robbed inside a hotel in the 1000 block of Elden Street, where she was a guest. Ozcan allegedly produced a handgun and demanded money, then left the hotel with some of the victim's personal belongings, Herndon police said. He was seen leaving the hotel in a white vehicle.

Detectives at the Herndon Police Department made a connection between that incident and two similar robberies in Fairfax County that took place Jan. 22 and 29. The actions of the suspect and the weapon used were similar, Herndon Police detectives said; they worked with the Fairfax County Police Department to identify Ozcan as a suspect.

At about 2:15 p.m. Thursday, a Herndon patrol officer saw a vehicle fitting the description of Ozcan's getaway vehicle on Elden Street. The officer stopped the suspect and took the driver into custody. He was positively identified as the suspect the Herndon and Fairfax County police departments developed.

Both departments obtained warrants for armed robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for Ozcan.

Ozcan is being arraigned in court Friday morning. A preliminary hearing date is set for April 15, according to court records.
