Herndon Rainstorm: Here's What To Expect Saturday

After more than 5 inches fell in parts of the D.C. area, get ready for at least a little more rain and possibly more flooding concerns.

HERNDON, VA — We're almost out of the woods here in Herndon -- but not quite yet. The bulk of the storm has passed through the area, but some rain could show up today. And with the ground totally soaked, that could result in more flooding concerns.

Rainfall totals were huge in some places, not so much in others. In some spots in the D.C. area (like Takoma Park and Gaithersburg), the rainfall totals surged past 5 inches. In Arlington, nearly 4 inches of rain fell, and nearly 5 inches at Andrews Air Force Base in Prince George's County. But near Reston and Herndon at Dulles Airport, only 1.6 inches fell, by far the lowest in the D.C. area.

On Saturday, the D.C. area should get periodic rain with highers in the upper 60s to low 70s, so it'll feel like spring out there. The rain should end by tonight, and the skies will start to clear. The temps will dip all the way into the mid-50s at night. On Sunday, it'll be mostly sunny and temperatures will surge back into the 80s.
