Herndon Releases Leaf Collection Schedule
It's almost raking season, and the town of Herndon will help you keep your lawn clear.
HERNDON, VA — The leaves on the trees are about to change color, and that means one thing in particular: piles of leaves on the ground. The town of Herndon has announced its annual leaf collection schedule so you can keep your lawn looking clean and clear even during the autumn months.
The very first leaf collection will be taking place in about a week from now (Oct. 11-14) for anyone north of the Washington & Old Dominion Trail, and a bit later than that for anyone south of the trail (Oct. 17-21).
"Residents should rake leaves as close to the curb as possible without blocking storm drains, sidewalks or mailboxes and without impeding vehicular traffic," the town said in a statement. "During leaf collection, grass clippings, shrub clippings and weeds must be placed in 30-gallon kraft, recyclable bags and should continue to be placed out only on your regular trash day. Following the scheduled fall collection, leaves must be placed in 30-gallon kraft recyclable bags and will be picked up on regular trash/yard waste collection days."
