Herndon Robotics Team Heading to Worldwide Championship

A student team from Herndon earned a spot this weekend at the FIRST Worldwide Championship next month in St. Louis.

FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Team “Ed Too - Pokemon Trainers” from Herndon High School was among the top performers at a two-day qualifying tournament in Scranton, Pa. on Friday and Saturday.

The FTC East Super Regional attracted 72 teams from Virginia to Maine. Also earning the right to compete at the worldwide level during the Scranton event were FTC teams from Albemarle County, Christiansburg, and Lebanon, Va.

The FIRST worldwide Championship will take place April 22-25 at the St. Louis Convention Center and Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, MO.

FIRST is an international non-profit dedicated to inspiring young people to pursue studies and careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
