Herndon Seeking Bike-Friendly Community Award
Earning a Bicycle Friendly Community Award is part of Herndon's plan to provide improved biking programs and infrastructure to residents.
HERNDON, VA — As the town of Herndon moves forward with its first bicycle master plan, officials are also hoping to earn a Bicycle Friendly Community Award, which will recognize the town for its work in providing bicycle programs, services and infrastructure to residents.
The Herndon Town Council discussed the master plan at its August meeting, The plan will help steer the council and provide policy guidance on bicycle network planning and design, Reston Now reported. The plan is also part of Herndon’s efforts to earn the Bicycle Friendly Community Award, a national program administered by the League of American Bicyclists.
The council plans to incorporate the bicycle master plan into the town’s 2039 comprehensive plan.
