Herndon Thief Busted Thanks To Phone Call: Police

The man is accused of stealing items from a person and assaulting him.

STERLING, VA -- Police have arrested a Herndon man on charges that he stole items from a man and then committed assault, police say.

Police arrested 41-year-old Akeem W. Gale of Herndon on charges of assault and obstruction of justice, as well as grand larceny, according to a report from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Police say that a caller who lived in the area of Oakgrove Road and Old Ox Road in Sterling reported that Gale stole items from him on May 3, the night before the call, and then Gale "assaulted a male at this location," the report states.

Gale was released on a secured bond.
