Herndon Woman Pushes Dog Out Car Window During Chase: Police

A Herndon woman faces multiple charges, including animal cruelty, after fleeing from Virginia State troopers.

WARREN COUNTY, VA — Virginia State Police arrested a Herndon woman who led troopers on a multi-county pursuit, after she fled a traffic stop for reckless driving on I-81 in Frederick County, according to a police release.

Around 11:17 a.m, on Aug. 6, the Berkley County Sheriff's Office issued a lookout call for a reckless driver. VSP spotted the suspected vehicle, a 2016 Mazda CS-X, near the 307-mile marker on I-81 in Frederick County. Police initiated a traffic stop. Initially, the driver stopped her vehicle, but sped off when she was approached by a trooper.

Heading down Route 277, the Mazda entered Frederick County and police were able to effect a stop at the 4.6 mile marker on I-66 in Warren County. Troopers took Jennifer L. Arnn, 39, of Herndon into custody. She was transported to RSW Regional Jail, where she is being held without bond.

During the chase, which reached speeds of up to 100 mph, police say Arnn pushed a dog out the window of her car. Police located the animal, but it did not survive its injuries. She also struck three VSP cruisers during the chase, according to police. One trooper suffered minor injuries from the incident.

VSP charged Arnn with three felony counts of assault on law enforcement, one felony count of intentional damage, one felony count of eluding law enforcement, one felony count of animal cruelty, one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence, and one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.
