Herndon's Cindy Roeder Chosen as President of VRPS

Cindy Roeder, director of Herndon Parks and Recreation has been elected as president of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society.

She was elected by the membership to the executive board in 2010 for a three year term and is currently the board’s vice president.

Roeder has held a number of positions in the organization during her 25-year affiliation with them. She has also led peers from all over Virginia to produce good local and regional educational opportunities, find and implement alternative revenue sources for the society and more.

Roeder’s one-year term as president will start on Jan. 1, 2012. She will be sworn into office on Sept. 18, 2011, during the Virginia Recreation and Park Society’s yearly conference in Norfolk.

An employee of the Town of Herndon since 2003, Roder first served as the recreation services manager before being promoted to her current position in 2007. She has also worked for the parks and recreation departments in Montgomery County, MD and Frederick County, VA.
