Herndon Police Are Investigating The Death Of Man Found In Town As A Homicide
Herndon Police Department confirmed that the discovery of a deceased man found in town on Thursday is being investigated as a homicide.

HERNDON, VA — Town of Herndon Police confirmed Wednesday that they are treating their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man found last Thursday within town limits as a homicide, according to a department spokeswoman.
HPD also identified the victim as 22-year-old as Josue Giovanni Arias Velasquez of no fixed address. The cause of death was trauma to the upper body, according to police.
HPD responded around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday for the report of a body being found in the 1000 block of Alabama Drive. Investigators determined that the deceased man appeared to have trauma to his upper body and that the injuries did not appear to be self-inflicted.

"It doesn't appear that there are any immediate threats to the community," said Lisa Herndon, HPD public information officer, in a phone interview on Wednesday. "He was not a resident the neighborhood where he was found."
