How Herndon Precincts Voted In 2020 Presidential Election

HERNDON, VA — The Town of Herndon's pick for president on Election Day was former Vice President Joe Biden, according to preliminary election results. Unofficial results are available on the town and precinct levels.

As of Wednesday morning, a winner has not been determined in the presidential race as votes continue to be counted in key states. But less than an hour after polls closed on Tuesday night, the Associated Press called Virginia for Biden.

In Herndon, Biden received 1,645 votes, while President Donald Trump received 1,315 votes and Libertarian Jo Jorgensen received 69 votes.

Vote totals are not final. Mail-in ballots that are postmarked by Nov. 3 and received by the registrar's office by noon on Nov. 6 have yet to be counted. Local election boards certify results on Nov. 10, and the state board will certify results on Nov. 16.

Vote totals are being tracked on the Virginia Department of Elections results site. Absentee ballots are counted in the central absentee precinct. Below are the preliminary results by precinct for the Town of Herndon. Note that totals may change if additional mail-in ballots postmarked by Nov. 3 come in.

The breakdown by precinct in the presidential race is:

Herndon #1

  • Biden: 541 votes
  • Trump: 498 votes
  • Jorgensen: 30 votes

Herndon #2

  • Biden: 582 votes
  • Trump: 434 votes
  • Jorgensen: 19 votes

Herndon #3

  • Biden: 522 votes
  • Trump: 383 votes
  • Jorgensen: 20 votes
